Greensboro is North Carolina's third-biggest city and dates back to the 18th century, when Greensboro was settled by northern farmers. Standing in the Piedmont area, Greensboro is part of the Piedmont Golden Triangle, together with nearby High Point and Winston Salem.

Downtown Greensboro has recently been renovated and revitalized, with many attractive green spaces and popular performing arts venues. Greensboro features many charming, listed buildings dating back to the early 1900s, and a selection of restaurants, bars and nightclubs around Greensboro's Market Street, Church Street and Green Street areas. South Elm Street in Old Greensboro Historic District offers many antique shops and specialty stores, and is a popular area of Greensboro.
